Turkey Shoot


Turkey Heaven Volunteer Fire Department will be having a Turkey Shoot on Saturday, March 3rd beginning at 10 a.m. at Trickum Recreation Center, 14650 Highway 46, Heflin. Prizes include, Ham, Turkey, or Hoop cheese. Everyone welcome to attend. All proceeds will go toward the fire departments matching funds for a new tanker truck.

Car Seat Inspection Station


Safe Kids Douglas County will be hosting an inspection station in the parking lot of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, 6856 Broad Street Douglasville, on Friday, March 30th from 9:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. There will also be a car seat distribution program available to those who qualify.  Inspections free, though donations to Safe Kids Douglas are appreciated.  For more

Springfest - All Day Family Festival


The Springfest will be held on Saturday, March 24th from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Deer Lick Park. A day filled with an Indoor Craft show and fun festival, carnival style activities for the kids, families and good food. Everyone welcome to attend. Car, Bike, and Sound Show


The Car, Bike and Sound Show will be held on Saturday, March 17th from 12 noon - 4 p.m. at West Georgia Technical College (Douglas Campus), 4600 Timber Ridge Drive, Douglasville. All proceeds will benefit the March of Dimes. Entry fee for Bike, 15.00, Cars, 20.00, Sound, 15.00, show and sound, 30.00. There will also be a yard sale. Story Time at the Lithia Springs Library


Story time will be held on Tuesday, February 28th beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Lithia Springs Library, 7100 Turner Drive, Lithia Springs. Braydon's Blood Drive


Braydon's Blood Drive will be held on Friday, February 24th from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Central Square Complex, Downtown Douglas county. Braydon has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia. A blow up bouncer will be set up for people with small children so they can donate blood and a wishing well will be available to give everyone the opportunity to go by and write a wish/prayer

Growing Up Wild for Preschool Children: Fairy Houses


Join Renee Morrison for fun nature and art programs for preschool age children on Saturday, March 24th from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at Little River Canyon Center in Fort Payne. No fee.

Fairy Tales & Fun (Creativity for Children)


Fairy Tales & Fun (Creativity for Children) will be held on Friday, March 23rd, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.  at DeSoto State Park Campfire Circle. An enchanting night with fairy stories, and watching a true fairy tale film. No fee.  

Plants of the Pocket


Join DeSoto State Park botanist, Brittany Hughes and JSU Field School Coordinator Renee Morrison for this botany trip to "The Pocket" on Pigeon Mountain. Excellent photo opportunities of unique and beautiful plants. It will be held on Tuesday, March 21st from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Meet at DeSoto State Park Nature Center, shuttle to site.  The fee will be $10.00 per person.

National Park Service Green & Grey Saturday


Green & Grey Saturday will be held on Saturday, March 10th, beginning at 10 a.m. at Little River Canyon Center in Fort Payne. Topics include climate change, recycling, energy conservation, eco-gardening, exotic plants, native landscaping, pollution prevention, green energy and more. The fee will be free. Waterfall Tour at DeSoto State Park


Join DeSoto State Park staff for a fun day of hiking through out the park to see some of DeSoto's waterfalls, big & small on Saturday, March 10th from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Meet at the Nature Center (next to DeSoto's Country Store). Leprechaun-a-thon 5 K race & 2 mile health walk


Race through historic downtown Rome and along Heritage Park Trail, finish with a victory lap around Maddox track inside Barron Stadium on Saturday, March 17th at 9 a.m. Proceeds will benefit local recreational programs and services. For more information call 706-291-0766.

16th Annual Douglas County Cowboy Poets Gathering


The 16th Annual Douglas County Cowboy Poet's Gathering will be held at Chapel Hill High School Theatre, 4899 Chapel Hill Road, on Saturday, March 3rd from 7-9 p.m. The cost will be $12.00 per person, $10.00 for CAC members, seniors, and students. Early Spring Frog Pond Adventure
