Most of the state of Georgia is now in ‘extreme drought’, according to State Climatologist, David Emory Stooksbury. He says, “The outlook for near-term drought relief is not promising.”
‘Extreme drought’ now cuts across Carroll and Douglas counties and extends to every county to the south. Moderate drought conditions continue in Haralson. Paulding County is listed in ‘severe drought’.
Streams across north Georgia are posting record low flows. Local farmers tell us that multiple area streams used by livestock have run dry for the first time in memory.
