A local church youth group has come up with a “cool” idea to bring other area youth together for praise, worship, skits, games and making new friends. The youth of Cross Plains Christian Church are intent on setting and claiming the record for building the longest banana split in Carroll County. Church Pastor Dick Hollis says the group is using long, connected sections of plastic rain gutters as the dish. “The world’s record is 5 ½ miles,” says Hollis. “We have no idea whether Carroll County even has such a record but we’ve decided to make the longest one we can and until somebody claims different, ours will be the longest.”
Building of the county’s longest banana split is scheduled for September the 11th. Youth and youth groups interested in participating should contact the Cross Plains Christian Church in Carrollton.
