(Carrollton, Georgia—August 30, 2011) The Charter Foundation, a private foundation endowed by CharterBank, has donated $5000 to each of three local benevolent or educational organizations. The recipients of the annual donations are determined by CharterBank customers through a vote held in each region where CharterBank has a full service location. Awarded the $5,000 grants in the Carrollton area are: Carroll County Soup Kitchen, Carroll County Schools (Mt. Zion Middle School), and Carroll County Humane Society.
Grants awarded by CharterBank customer voting are in their first year in the Carrollton area but in the 8th year overall. The voting program allows CharterBank customers to nominate and vote for three local nonprofit or charitable organizations to receive the $5,000 Foundation grants each year during June and July. These grants are in addition to The Charter Foundation’s regular application grant cycles in May and November. Each year, customer participation in the program has continued to increase.
“By involving CharterBank customers in the Foundation’s grant program, we underscore the CharterBank is not only involved with the local community, but is also directing its support toward the organizations and causes that our customers hold dear,” said CharterBank CEO Robert (Bob) L. Johnson. “The partnership between CharterBank and the Charter Foundation only strengthens our heritage of community giving.”
“Mt. Zion Middle School is most appreciative of the support and generosity that the CharterBank has provided to our school and community.” said John Jacobs, Principal of Mt. Zion Middle School. “This grant will make a huge impact at Mt. Zion Middle School for classroom instruction by helping our teachers meet their needs.”
