In Sean Calhoun's first year as Head Coach of the Carrollton football program, he took his Trojans to the State quarter-finals and achieved an 11-2 record along the way. His offense averaged 38 ppg while his defense gave up only 17 ppg.

There are now only four teams remaining in each of the classifications in Georgia high school football. Unfortunately for residents of the West Georgia area, all the local teams have now been eliminated with Carrollton’s 34-27 loss to Buford 
We are now in the second week of the high school football playoffs and there are 3 teams still alive in the Carrollton area. 
Another high school football regular season has passed right before our very eyes. It seems like just yesterday I was at University Stadium covering Carrollton vs Newnan in the West Georgia Kickoff Classic. 
The Carrollton Trojans improved to 7-1 on the year with a 34-14 region win over the visiting Kell Longhorns on Friday night. This win will likely put Carrollton ahead of Kell when it comes time for the playoffs. 
It has been a tough 3-game stretch for Coach Hall and his football program at West Georgia. Just seven games into the season, UWG’s playoff hopes are pretty much gone. 
The Mount Zion High School football team continued their perfect season Friday as they defeated Bowdon by a score of 24-12. This gives them a 7-0 record on the year and puts them in the driver’s seat for the region title. 
The Carrollton Trojans improved to 5-1 on the year Friday as they defeated the Villa Rica Wildcats by a score of 42-13. This was the first meeting of the two schools since 2007, and they are now both in region 7 AAAAA. 
#3 West Georgia was given their first loss of the year Saturday at the hands of #18 North Alabama. This 24-23 loss gives West Georgia a 4-1 record on the year and 1-1 record in conference play.
The West Georgia Wolves improved to 4-0 on the year last Saturday after they defeated the Albany State Golden Rams by a score of 27-23. 
Emory Jones and the Heard County Braves manhandled the Temple Tigers on Friday night in the little town of Franklin, Georgia. Heard County improved their record to 9-2 overall vs Temple, a series that was first played in 1998. 
The West Georgia football team won their Gulf South Conference opener vs the Delta State Statesmen Saturday by a score of 34-24. This marks the 5th straight UWG victory vs DSU and makes it 6 out of the last 7. 
The Heard County Braves improved to 4-1 on the season with a 28-7 win over the Central Lions out of Carrollton on Friday night.

West Georgia used 402 yards of offense Saturday in their 29-0 win over the Miles Golden Bears. The win moved the Wolves to 2-0 on the year with both wins coming vs defending conference champions. 
On Friday, for the first time in 5 years, Bremen High School and Trion High School met on the football field. This rivalry goes all the way back to 1936 when the two teams first met, a game that Trion won 39-6. 
The 2nd ranked West Georgia Wolves got their first win of the season Saturday with a 23-3 victory over the 22nd ranked Catawba Indians. This win marked the 17th straight victory at University Stadium, a place where Coach Will Hall has never lost.
The Carrollton Trojans came into their game vs Riverdale Friday with a 1-0 record after beating Newnan two weeks prior. In the Newnan game, the offense was only able to find the endzone once. 
I was able to attend the 70th meeting of the Bremen High Blue Devils vs the Bowdon High Red Devils on Friday night. The two teams have a very long history dating all the way back to 1936. According to GHSFA.org, they first played in 1936 and 1937, and have played every year since 1954. 
The 5th annual West Georgia Kickoff Classic is in the books and the Carrollton Trojans are the champions of this year’s event. Carrollton came out on top of the Newnan Cougars 16-6 in what could definitely be called a defensive battle. 
With the 2016-2017 school year now here, it is time for another West Georgia football season. In the past two years, the UWG faithful have completely seen a change in the program with two consecutive final four appearances.

When the NCAA put a ban on satellite camps, they drew criticism from coaches all across the country. That criticism frequently came from the 'spokesperson', if you will, of the pro-satellite camp movement, Coach Jim Harbaugh of Michigan.

The NCAA South Regional came to a close Monday as Nova Southeastern defeated Delta State, 3-1. Unfortunately, the West Georgia Wolves fell one game short of the Championship round. They were eliminated in the semi-finals by Delta State.
