Young Girl Rescued From Well

**UPDATE** Injuries to the 7-year old girl who fell down a well in Whitesburg Monday are worse than previously thought. The mother of Megan Winters has posted on social media, updates to her daughter’s condition.
Initially it was reported that Megan’s arm and leg were broken. Then later last night, her mother asked for prayers when it was revealed that her daughter had bleeding and a bruise on her brain.

Carroll County Fire/ Rescue free a 7-year old girl stuck in a well Monday afternoon.

The rescue operation took place on Ivey Road near Reese Road in Whitesburg after the girl fell into the well, about 50 feet deep.
“She was on her grandparent’s property,” Carroll County Fire Chief Scott Blue said following the rescue Monday. “It was about 2:48 when this happened. Our unit out of Whitesburg was on the scene in under five minutes.”
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, West Georgia Ambulance and Carroll County Fire & Rescue all responded to the scene.
“We were able to evaluate from the top of the well that the girl was conscious and alert,” Blue said. “We sent one of our fire fighters down the well to evaluate her better… and we set up a rope-rescue system.”
The girl was in the well for approximately one hour and ten minutes, according to Blue.
