Woman's Throat Cut; Recovering In Hospital; Family Member Accused Of Machete Attack

Police uncover a gruesome crime scene in Carrollton Thursday morning.
They were responding to a 911 call from a female victim with her throat slashed in her Fifth Street residence.
She’s being treated at Grady Memorial in Atlanta this afternoon.
Although the victim was unable to speak, Carrollton Police Captain Chris Dobbs says she was able to identify her cousin as the alleged-assailant. Investigators believe he used a machete like weapon.
“It was one of the worst scenes that we have responded to in a long time. It was very horrific,” Dobbs said Friday. “The victim in this case definitely had a will to survive.”
The victim was able to call 911. Emergency responders tracked the call to Fifth Street.
“She couldn’t speak because of her injuries,” Dobbs said. “She was able to get to her window and raise a blind so that officers were able to locate her.”
23-year old Warren Douglas Rogers, Jr. of Carrollton was charged with aggravated assault late Thursday. He reportedly denied being involved.
Additional charges are possible.
Dobbs says investigators are not sure of a motive at this time.
