Voters May Choose Sunday Sales

Carrol County Ga -- Next month the Carroll County Board of Commissioners will revisit the discussion on whether to allow Carroll County voters to decide on Sunday alcohol sales in the unincorporated portions of the county.

Commissioners last decided against letting voters make the call on Sunday sales in the county back in August of 2016. The vote was four to three against the proposal. Chairman Marty Smith, District Three Commissioner Tommy Lee, then District Five Commissioner Kevin Jackson, and District Six Commissioner George Chambers all voted against allowing the public to choose.

Since that last vote, the term of District Five Commissioner Jackson ended. Lee Powers has now held the job since January of 2017. Powers had previously told WLBB radio that he would vote in favor of letting the public decide on the issue. He did add that personally, he will vote against Sunday sales if and when the issue makes it to the polls.

The board could decide on sending a single question or multiple questions relating to alcohol in the unincorporated part of the county.
