Two Carrollton Residents Behind Bars Following Police Pursuit

On 10-05-17 at approximately 2:15 PM, Villa Rica Police responded to Wal-Mart after a stolen vehicle was spotted in the area. The officers located the vehicle and attempted to block the vehicle by positioning the police vehicles in front of and behind the stolen vehicle. The driver of the stolen vehicle then attempted to flee and struck one of the police vehicles pushing it out of the way.

The driver of the stolen vehicle then fled the scene crossing Hwy 61 onto Hickory Level Rd. The stolen vehicle left the roadway on more than one occasion and eventually the driver lost control causing the vehicle to roll several times. As the stolen vehicle was rolling it struck an oncoming vehicle before coming to a stop in a yard in the 900 block of Hickory Level Rd.

The driver then fled the scene on foot and was eventually pulled out from underneath a home on Old Scenic Rd. The driver of the stolen vehicle was identified as Jonathan Bowman, 22 years old, from Carrollton Ga. Bowman was arrested and charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, Obstruction of Officers, Failure to Maintain Lane, Criminal Interference with Government Property, Speeding, Criminal Damage 1st Degree, and Driving w/o a License. The passenger in the stolen vehicle was identified as Katie Ploof-Allen, 23 years old, from Carrollton Ga. Ploof-Allen was charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. It was also discovered that she had an active warrant issued by Douglas Co.

Villa Rica Police later discovered that a third person was inside the vehicle at Wal-Mart just prior to this incident. Officers returned to Wal-Mart and located the person as she was leaving the store. The person was identified as Kaylan Mason, 28 years old, from Hiram Ga. During the investigation the officers found that Mason had just shoplifted items from Wal-Mart and was in possession of drugs and paraphernalia. Mason had also previously been issued a criminal trespass warning barring her from that location. Mason was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Criminal Trespass, and Theft by Shoplifting.
