Three Year Old, Allegedly Beaten By Stepfather, Dies Sunday

Villa Rica Police anticipate that charges against a 21-year old Villa Rica man accused of beating his stepson will be upgraded to murder after the three-year old passed away on Sunday.
Joshua Richards was charged on Tuesday with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and a drug charge.
The toddler was flown to an Atlanta area hospital after his mother found him unresponsive and called 911.

By Friday, family members told WLBB Radio they were hopeful and optimistic with reports of the boy improving. Saturday, the family was notified of pressure on the boy's brain, which required relief.
On Sunday, the three-year old victim, passed away due to his head injuries, according to authorities.
Richards married the boy's mother in the Summer of 2017.

The suspect is the son of Carrollton Police Chief, Joel Richards.
