Thieves Identified After Trying To Cash In Stolen Lottery Tickets

On July 10, 2016, Deputies responded to a reported store burglary at the Carroll Food Mart located in Sand Hill.

When officers arrived they found the front door glass had been shattered. A witness reported seeing a gray / silver car sitting at the store just prior to the burglary. The store surveillance camera confirmed the car description and showed a larger black male smash the glass, enter the store, and commit the theft.

On July 11th, Inv. Greg Holcomb was notified by the Lottery Commission that attempts had been made to collect money from some of stolen lottery tickets. Store video from that transaction matched the same male suspect from the burglary who was accompanied by a female.

The investigation later revealed that the male was Shariff Fuller (34) (Smith Lake Road Carrollton) and the female was Sonya Githens (34) (Smith Lake Rd, Carrollton). Further investigation revealed that Fuller had been arrested approximately a week earlier for traffic violations. He was driving a Silver Nissan at the time of his arrest.

Both Fuller and Githens were taken into custody without incident.
