Temple Closer To Farmers Market

Temple Ga -- Temple might be one step closer to getting a permanent farmers market. The City Council discussed borrowing ideas from the Rockmart Farmers Market during Mondays council meeting.

Councilman Richard cracknel suggested that each council member appoint a resident from their district to join a farmers market committee. The new committee would then draft rules and staff the market. They would also be charged with finding local farmers as vendors
Councilman Todd Rothwell echoed his support and hopes to involve corporate sponsors for the market, like similar partnerships in Carrollton and Villa Rica.
The city has struggled in the past with establishing a regularly scheduled market with many in the council hesitant to establish one as recently as December.
No immediate action has been taken but the council hopes to have the committee in place by spring.
