Road Rage Incident: Shot Fired In Broad Daylight

Carrollton City Police have issued an arrest warrant for a Lithonia man they believe fired a gun at a car during a road-rage incident this week.

CPD Captain Shannon Cantrell says the alleged incident happened on Broad Street near Maple Street on Tuesday around 3:30 in the afternoon.

According to the report, the episode began when a Mercedes-Benz pulled out in front of the alleged victim's vehicle... prompting the 49-year old Bowdon man to honk his horn and offer a gesture. The drivers of the vehicles exchanged gestures and expletives.

When both cars reached Broad Street, the Mercedes made a u-turn. The Bowdon-man then began to drive past the suspect, when he heard what he believed to be a gunshot. The Mercedes then left toward Maple Street.

The victim found a hole in his driver’s side panel of his vehicle, just to the rear of the gas tank.

Investigators have identified the suspect as 24-year-old Nicholas Schley- a Lithonia resident who is known to spend time at the Reserve Apartments in Carrollton on Lovvorn Road in building no. 9.

Schley faces an aggravated assault charge.

Police are asking anyone with information on his location to call the CrimeStoppers Tip-Line.
