Three days of re-qualifying for Temple City Council's November election produces the same results as the qualifying less than one month ago--- with one exception. Whereas following the initial qualifying period, Ward 4 Councilman William Simmons had two challengers in Debbie McIntosh and Penny Ransom. Wednesday at 4:31 pm, he had but one.
Using the newly drawn district maps this time-- these were approved towards the end of the first qualifying period-- Penny Ransom is no longer a resident of Ward 4 and therefore cannot run to represent that area. Ransom now lives in Ward 1which is currently represented by Terron Bivens. Qualifying for the Ward 1seat is not again until 2013.
Councilwoman Hiley Miller remains unchallenged in Ward 3.
In Ward 5, Richard Bracknell seeks re-election against a familiar challenge in Gayla Bearden. Bearden sought the Ward 5 seat 4 years ago as well.
