Police Chief Takes Polar Plunge For Special Olympics

Villa Rica Police Chief Michael Mansour, family members and some friends are once again taking the Polar Bear Plunge’ in Lake Lanier to raise money for the Special Olympics.

“I’ve always supported Special Olympics,” Mansour says. “I had an uncle that was an athlete many years ago—and he always enjoyed it. It always meant so much to him that he got to participate.”

Leading up to the plunge in mid-February, Mansour’s team is about 20-percent of the way towards their goal of raising $5,000 dollars for this year’s Special Olympics.

“It’s very rewarding to attend the Olympics each year—It may mean more to me than anybody,” Mansour says. I just enjoy being around them and seeing the joy the have when they get their awards and all—it’s just a cool thing.”
