Buchanan will have a new mayor on March 12 after only one name qualifies for the election to fill the un-expired term of the late mayor Benjamin “Buster” Biggers. Biggers passed away in August following a short illness.
 
26-year old Chase Croft—a funeral director with Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel and Crematory in Buchanan, is expected to be sworn in as mayor during the first work session of the city council.
 
The scheduled special election on March 19^th in Buchanan will still be held; and feature a Sunday liquor sales referendum on the ballot.
