Northern County Residents Question Park Fees

Carroll County’s District-Three Commissioner, Tommy Lee has asked that the Commission Board discuss the fees currently charged at Little Tallapoosa Park, at next week’s work session.

“My constituents have approached me about having to pay fees at the Little Tallapoosa Park, while at the McIntosh Park there are no fees,” Lee said Wednesday. “They feel like their SPLOST dollars have built this park and the county is not being consistent with the fees for the two parks. I realize that we need the money for the budget to maintain the parks, but somehow we have to be consistent with the fees.”

Lee notes that in southern Carroll County, there is no charge to camp or picnic at McIntosh Reserve Park; whereas on the northern side, at Little Tallapoosa Park—there are daily or annual fees.

“I understand we need money to help maintain the parks, but fees are not consistent,” he says. “People on the north part of the county feel like it is not fair that they are paying while the people using the southern park are getting in free.”

Little Tallapoosa Park currently charges a daily $5.00 per vehicle fee and between $15 and $25 per night for camping.
