Villa Rica Ga -- Villa Rica City Councilwoman Leslie McPherson suspected she would have at least one challenger in November's election. She has put up campaign signs in yards of supporters weeks before qualifying for the race, which she did last week.

McPherson said, "I just want to make it very clear to people that I had planned to run and wanted to get the word out their early. We are taking the campaign seriously and plan to work very hard."

Villa Rica's Mayor Pro-Tem McPherson is seeking a second consecutive term representing Ward 3 in the city of gold. She says her motivation is stability and continuity for Villa Rica.

"It's been a real roller coaster ride since I got on with trying to have stable city management. We also got really big plans with the downtown renaissance program. We are at probably one of the real pivots," says McPherson

McPherson is challenged on the ballot this November by long term educator Bernice Brooks.
