Man Arrested For Threatening Government Office

Carrol County Ga -- A Franklin man is spending a third day in the Carroll County jail after police said he told a government office employee that he would come to their facility and shoot the office staff and then shoot himself.

When interviewed by police, 28-year-old Dwight Strickland, said he was "just talking."

Strickland said his comments sprang from frustration over being forced to respond to the child support recovery call center on North Park Street.

The suspect had received a letter that stated he had to be at the office between the hours of 9 a.m. And 11 a.m. on Wednesday to meet with a staff member. The letter also stated that if Strickland failed to bring $317 with him, legal action could be taken.

Strickland told police that he was frustrated because he had paid the amount earlier and that he had to walk off of his job Wednesday morning in order to meet the letter`s requirements.

Strickland has been charged with terroristic threats.
