Local Elementary Recognized As 'Georgia School Of Excellence"

Jones Elementary School in Bremen announced as a 2012 Georgia School Of Excellence this week by State Schools Superintendent, John Barge.
JES is recognized in the area of highest performance in the 14th Congressional district.
It’s the second consecutive year for that honor for Jones Elementary.
Bremen City Schools Superintendent David Hicks says strong parental-support is a big factor for this recognition.
“We ask that our parents read with their children every night… help them with math—everything. And they do. So students are getting that reinforcement at home,” Hicks said. “That makes our job—it’s never easy, but makes it much easier when parents are reinforcing what we are doing during the day. So, we congratulate the kids and the teachers and the staff—and also our parents because it really is a joint effort.”
2012 marks the third consecutive year a school from the Bremen system wins this honor.
Bremen High School won in 2010.
