International Baccalaureate Program Made Official
Carrollton High School was notified this week that they will be joining International Baccalaureate Diploma program, which according to Carrollton Schools Superintendent Dr. Kent Edwards will allow for students to get some college courses out of the way early, save on tuition, and enter the job market sooner. “We are very excited about moving towards a more rigorous, internationally-based curriculum. It will certainly equip our students for their life-long pursuits, be it college or university, or the workplace itself,” he says. “It’s one of those things that’s innovative. The students will find it difficult and certainly challenging, but at the end of the studies they’ll find that they are a much more accomplished student.”
The courses are offered to 11th and 12th grade students but Edwards says students prepare for the advanced courses upon entering the 9th grade.
