Historians On The Clock To Save 190-Year Old Home

The owners of the more than 190-year old Hart House in Villa Rica are giving those interested in saving the home from demolition, 2 months to come up with a plan to move the structure.
The First Baptist Church Of Villa Rica, which owns the house at 1483 W. Highway 78, made the concession this week before a special called meeting of the Villa Rica Historic Preservation Commission.
Church officials planned to demolish the home after deciding it was too expensive to repair.
That put local historians into action to try to save the home, which is considered to be one of the oldest in Carroll County.
Those trying to save the structure have suggested they will organize fund-raising efforts in the coming weeks to pay the moving bill.
