Atlanta-based rapper Soulja Boy is in the Carroll County Jail this morning, charged with possession and intent to distribute.
Temple Police Public Information Officer, Dana Rampy tells us that Temple Police Officer Lat Gray pulled over a Cadillac Escalade traveling west bound on Interstate 20, for a traffic infraction this morning at around 2:30. The 21-year old rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, was a passenger and in the company of bodyguards and a driver. An investigation revealed 5 ounces of marijuana, handguns and a large amount of cash. First appearances are expected today.
In September 2007, his single "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. As of 2011, Way has confirmed he is working on his fourth studio album, entitled Respect My Hustle, which will be released in late 2011 or early 2012.
