GDOT Plans Resurfacing Of SR 16 & I-20

ATLANTA (August 17, 2016) | Sen. Mike Dugan (R – Carrollton) is happy to announce two Georgia Department of Transportation contracts awarded to areas in Carroll and Haralson Counties. The projects will include 12.41 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing on SR 16 from SR 100 to west of Columbia Drive, and another 11.3 miles of pavement marking upgrades on I-20 from east of the Alabama line to east of US 27. The total cost is 3.4 million, and the expected completion date for both projects is June 30, 2017.
These two projects are part of the $97.6 million award announced by DOT for statewide construction projects. The total amount will spread across some 38 projects around the state. These projects were advertised for bids in June, bids were received in July and contracts were awarded on August 5.
“It is the state legislature’s obligation to maintain our transportation infrastructure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our families, friends and neighbors,” said Senator Dugan. “I am pleased with the Department of Transportation’s decision to move forward with these projects, as they will benefit the citizens of District 30, as well as the local economy, for years to come.”
Information on schedules, lane closures and detours will be made available in advance of construction activities on GDOT’s website.
