Former Bowdon Native now Coastal Carolina Assistant Football Coach
January 24, 2012

Nick Jones was recently named assistant coach to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football team.  Head football coach Joe Moglia named Jones assistant coach January 20th. Nick is from Bowdon, Georgia and has plenty of football experience.  He played football at the high school level for the Bowdon Red Devils.  Jones continued his football career at the college level at the University of Georgia.  During his time at Georgia he was a second team All-SEC selection at center as a senior.  In addition to this honor he was named permanent co-captain of the 2006 Georgia Bulldogs team.  Throughout his tenure at Georgia he started 32 consecutive games.  He played a key role in his senior class putting together an impressive 40-12 four year record and a 3-1 record in bowl games.  Jones played in two SEC championship games and was a winner of the SEC title in 2005.

Nick does have experience at the NFL level.  He signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks in 2007.  He spent parts of two seasons with the Seahawks, Giants, and Lions.  Not only did he have professional experience in the National Football League he also has experience with College football in coaching.  In 2010 and 2011 he was an offensive graduate assistant for the Georgia Bulldogs.  Jones served in both the press box and on the sidelines between the hedges for the Dawgs.  He was moved down to the sidelines for his great coaching and motivation skills.

Oddly enough this past football season Jones former team the Georgia Bulldogs played Coastal Carolina and won 59-0.
