Flu Season One Of The Worst In Years

West Georgia Region -- The Georgia Department of Public Health, on Wednesday, announced that there have now been at least 37 confirmed flu-associated deaths in Georgia this flu season. Four of these 37 have been in the ten county northwest health district, One each in Bartow, Floyd, Paulding, and Polk counties.

Officials with District Four Public Health, which covers 12 counties including Carroll, Coweta and Heard counties, were unable to provide a number of confirmed flu-associated deaths. They do continue to stress that this is one of the worst flu seasons in a decade, and they added that it is not too late to get a flu shot.

According to the Coweta County Coroner, a 15-year-old girl passed away this week due to liver failure after complications from the flu.
