Fire Fighter Injured In Late Night Blaze

A Haralson County firefighter is recovering from third-degree burns after working to save a home late Saturday.
Fire Chief Bryan Walker says crews responded to a house on Old Bremen Road in Temple around 10:30 Saturday night. Walker says the caller who reported the fire to 911 believed the fire was in the woods and it wasn’t until crews arrived that they discovered it was a house fire.
“While working to put the fire out, plenty of debris fell on top of (the injured fire fighter),” Walker said Sunday. “He has some pretty bad—3rd degree burns to the back of his neck. He is still receiving treatment.”
Carroll County crews assisted.
No one was home at the time of the fire but Walker says it is a total loss.
Local investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire. They have called in state fire and ATF officials to assist with the investigation.
Anyone with information regarding the fire is encouraged to call the Georgia Arson Control hotline at 1-800-282-5804; or call locally 770-646-2037 ext. 11.
