Fire Department Reponds to Man Trapped Beneath Tractor Fire


Carrol County Ga -- The Carroll County Fire Department responded to a call Friday afternoon in the Shady Grove Community. WLBB Radio spoke with Deputy Fire Chief Bud Benefield about the incident.

"A call came in at 12:55 and we were on the scene at 13:03. It was in the Shady Grove community. An 84 year old male was mowing his lawn and his small lawn tractor flipped over on him and caught fire. He was pinned underneath," Benefield said. "The incident burned about 90-percent of his body with second and third degree burns. We've airlifted him to the burn unit at Grady."

The victim was found by his wife and authorities are unsure of the time between the injury and the 911 call.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
