Deputies Find Three Dead In Home Near Temple; Suspect Murder/Suicide

A man and his two children were found dead Thursday in an apparent murder-suicide.
The three, whose names and ages were not released, were found inside their home on Willow Lane, off Taylors Gin Road near Temple.
“We had information that an individual did not come to work in a couple of days and thought we might need to check on him—he was a good dependable employee,” Carroll County Sheriff Terry Langley told WLBB radio Thursday. “We went to the residence and the house was locked up from the inside. Our deputies, through their investigation were able to get a phone number for the wife—she had left and was in New York.”
Langley says she told investigators they had two children. They checked the with the school system and learned that the kids had not been to school for days either.
The sheriff said the three died from gunshot wounds and may have been dead since Tuesday night. Investigators believe the father killed his son and daughter before turning the gun on himself.
“It’s just a terrible, terrible event… senseless… you can’t make any sense of it,” Langley said. “We do know the wife and husband were estranged. They had been separated for some time and we are investigating to see if that was the motivation behind this.”
Carroll County Schools Assistant Superintendent, David Goldberg said counselors and school psychologists are at the schools attended by the two children today and are prepared to help teachers and students deal with the situation, if need be.
