Defendant Facing Life In Prison For Murder Of 80-Year Old Man

A man accused of playing a role in the death of an 80-year old Buchanan man last year, is found guilty in a Haralson County courtroom this afternoon.
31-year old Ronnie Duane Lewis of Bremen is one of two men accused in the robbery and murder of 80-year old Ophir Lee Thompson back in February 2012.
Tallapoosa Judicial Circuit District Attorney Jack Browning says Lewis will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
“Life plus 70 years—no parole,” is the sentence.
Lewis’ accomplice, Mickey Ray Mulder, Jr. of Tallapoosa had pled earlier to armed robbery and involuntary manslaughter. He received a sentence of 40 years—to serve 20.
Chief Deputy Assistant District Attorney, Chuck Rooks presented the case in court against Lewis.
The investigation was handled by the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office, GBI and the DA’s office.
