D68 Rep. Collins & Wife: Domestic Incident "Is Not Indicative Of Who We Are"

Both District-68 State House Rep-Elect J. Collins and his wife Kim Monday apologized for their roles in a domestic dispute that is currently under investigation by the Villa Rica Police Department.
Paraphrasing the messages posted via social media on both Mr. And Mrs. Collins Facebook pages…
"Over the past few months, (we) have dealt with several major health scares in our family, while at the same time trying to work through a rough patch in our marriage. Emotions got the better of us Friday and we let things go too far. While (we are) ashamed of (our) role(s) in escalating the situation, it is not indicative of  who we are. (We) apologize to our friends and family and ask for your prayers and support.”
The message follows news that VRPD is investigating an incident in the J Collins Funeral Home late Friday morning, and the release of the 911 calls relating to the incident.

A short time after Mrs. Collins made that 911 call, and while she was still on line with a dispatcher, Mr. Collins too called 911, from a different phone from within the business.

Officers responded to the scene.
VRPD Captain Keith Shaddix tells WLBB Radio that according to state code, the department could not release any incident report relating to family violence unless there was an arrest made. At this time no arrest has been made, but the incident remains under investigation.
The Collins have been married since 2010. They are raising two daughters.
J. Collins, former mayor of Villa Rica, was elected to serve as Georgia’s district 68 House Rep earlier this year. His initial term is scheduled to begin in January of 2017.
