County Partners with Temple to Pave and Clean up Road

Crews working in conjunction with Carroll County and the city of Temple recently completed repaving a stretch of road that was previously blighted as a well-known spot to illegally dump garbage.

The work on Oak Shade Road in Temple was completed a little more than a week ago, and already, it has been a deterrent for litterers, said Sam Russell, director of public works for the city.

“It was a landfill alongside a road way,” he said. “But the paving has done a whole lot of good.”

Not only will the roadwork help officials keep the area green, but it will also allow residents and passers through to take Highway 78 into town, reducing the amount of traffic on Highway 113 from Carrollton.

As a result, the partnership between Carroll County and Temple has been a positive for everyone involved, Russell said.

“There are immediate positive impacts,” he said. “It’s a win-win for everybody.”
