Arant Takes Top Award At State Social Studies Fair

CARROLLTON, GA – For the second year in a row, a Carrollton High School student took top honors at the state Social Studies Fair held last weekend at Clayton State University.

Freshman Carver Arant’s entry, “The Changing Face of Healthcare,” won Best in Fair in the Political Science category. Last year, then-sophomore Sophia Li’s entry in the Sociology/Social Psychology category also earned Best in Fair honors. To advance to the state fair, both earned Best in Fair honors at the Northwest Georgia regional competition held in February.

Advanced Placement government and world history teacher Michael Harvey, who also serves as instructional coordinator for the CHS social studies department, was their directing teacher. The Georgia Council for the Social Studies, a professional organization of social studies teachers, sponsors the annual state fair.
