Supt. Hicks "As we rode around and surveyed the roads, we discovered many side and/or shaded roads which still had significant ice on them even after the higher temperatures and sun today. Additionally, approximately a third of our student population drives in from outside the city. Even within the boundaries of the city, there is a good chance of refreezing overnight. Finally, as many of you know firsthand, quite a bit of sickness has been going around. Another day off, with the weekend, might substantially help."
